2015 Postgraduate Student Forum on Industrial Engineering, the 430th Doctoral Forum of Tsinghua University, was held in Changping District during November 21 to 22, 2015. Hosted by Graduate School of Tsinghua University and organized by IE Department, the Forum aimed to enhance the academic exchange on industrial engineering field, promote interdisciplinary interactions and strengthen the postgraduates’ innovative awareness and abilities. Prof. Zuojun Max Shen, Head of IE Department, Prof. Kaibo Wang, Vice Head of IE Department and over 160 doctors and senior masters (including over 30 international students of Tsinghua) from 9 universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, University of Science and Technology of China, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Chongqing University and South China University of Technology attended the Conference.

Opening Ceremony

On the morning of November 21st, Prof. Zuojun Max Shen was invited to make a keynote speech named The Past, Present and Future of IE Department. He reviewed the IE discipline history and elaborated some hot research topic, such as medical science, energy and big data. With the historical opportunity for the IE research of China, he encouraged that based on China’s real issues, all students should promote the theoretical innovation and make service for the revolution and development of the country’s industry so as to make world-class influence. Then Prof. Tianhu Deng and Prof. Fang He of Tsinghua University, Prof. Ying Wang of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (alumni of Tsinghua) made excellent special reports on energy, transportation and human-computer interaction.

  The Forum had a plenary session and five parallel sessions (operations research and optimization, manufacture and production, human factor and human-computer interaction, health care and data analysis), which were consisted of more than 40 academic reports.

  Special session was arranged for international students. Over 30 international students of the Tsinghua-Aachen Dual-degree Program made reports and discussions in the forum.

  On the morning of November 21st, outstanding paper awards were selected in the forum. Six papers were selected from 25 submitted papers previously, and invited to give presentation at the forum. At last, after voted by the review committee, three of them, Mengying Xue of Tsinghua University, Jiayi Liu of University of Science and Technology of China and Qingxing Qu of Northeastern University, won the Outstanding Paper Awards of the Forum 2015.
